Arlene Miller O'Connor Studio Nubble Light 24 x 36 oil (Private Collection)
Born and raised on a farm in Pennsylvania, where I acquired my enduring love of all things in nature; the beauty of the ordinary and intricate, from the smallest wild flower to the largest of farm animals. The landscape that surrounded my world so intrigued me, and I began to sketch at an early age. My first canvases were the whitewashed walls of the dairy barn, upon which I drew life-sized characters, flowers and wildlife while milking the cows, only occasionally neglecting the chores at hand.
After marriage and with a family to care for, little time was left to express my artistic self. After spending several years in Europe, however, I discovered inspirational joy in the works of the Old Masters and contemporary artists. There began my quest to study and explore my innate desire to transfer to canvas and paper, an artistic interpretation of our surroundings.
Arriving in Vermont in the late sixties with my family, the abounding beauty of rural New England inspired that quest ever more. The opportunity to pursue an art vocation in this beautiful area of the country is truly a blessing.
My current memberships include Chaffee Art Center, Southern Vermont Art Center and West River Artists.
I hope you enjoy browsing the site. Please visit often, as we are continually updating with new work.
